ON THE ROAD

TOURING ITALY WITH JOE BASTIANICH

On The Road was filmed as a six part documentary series exploring the folk music traditions of Italy. The adventure featured Joe Bastianich, an Italian-American restaurateur and TV personality, and myself, a curious musician from New York. Our mission each episode was to discover the musical heart of a different region, to uncover the artists that were keeping that tradition alive, and to put them all together for one harmonious evening . Sometimes this was easier than others.

As we played, ate, and drank our way around the peninsula Joe showed me the treasures and traditions of his home country and in return I helped him communicate musically with the characters we encountered.
